As the Executive Director, Linda is deeply passionate about creating a safe place to help those who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness in our community. Linda brings her leadership, passion and determination to serving at The Lighthouse. She is excited the build and collaborate with community partners in order to see vulnerable people succeed.
Linda and her husband Kevin traveled and worked throughout Canada and in the UK before settling in the Orillia area, where they are raising three amazing kids. And although she's been diagnosed with both depression and anxiety, Linda doesn’t let this stop her from living the life God created for her!
Trish's enthusiasm for life is contagious! She loves connecting with people and has wicked organizational skills. Leading a youth camp for 10 years, she now brings her staff and volunteer management skills to create amazing teams. We are so thankful Trish is investing her time and energy at The Lighthouse.
Trish married her husband on the shores of Lake Simcoe and now they have a fun, spunky daughter.
Client Services Coordinator
Sara has been serving at The Lighthouse for over 15 years. Her father, Tim Tanton, was manager from 2000-2015, and Sara grew up watching her dad help anyone in need. Sara continues to follow in her father's footsteps with huge heart and passion for helping those experiencing homelessness and assisting clients to reach their goals.
Growing up in Orillia, Sara loves our community. She is married with three beautiful children.
David plays an important role in operating our shelter on a daily basis, from serving meals on time to helping someone in a crisis take the next step. He's passionate about treating people with dignity and creating a safe place when someone needs it. When David is taking a break from keeping us organized at The Lighthouse, he loves to cook for friends and family, cast a line on the lake, or volunteer in the community.
Clayton is a graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Georgian College and will soon receive his degree in Social Work from Laurentian University. Clayton loves to support guests in the shelter by actively listening to their stories. He cares about making The Lighthouse as safe place where he can help people reach their future goals, wherever their story has taken them.
When he's not helping at The Lighthouse, you might find him with a good book, on the bike trails or spending time with loved ones.
James keeps our shelter in top shape, serves breakfast and sits down for a conversation with guests with the intention of helping each person start their day off on the right foot. With a Social Worker diploma from Georgian College, James shares his passionate about meeting the physical needs of people, but also listening to their stories and providing the support they need to take their next steps. James was also born for music, he loves playing guitar, drums, base and even song writing! You'll probably find him spending time with his loved ones and enjoying a nice walk when he's out and about.
Malcolm is approachable, genuine and passionate about seeing people reach their goals. He works hard to be knowledgable about the resources available to guests at the shelter and loves to help people successfully navigate through difficult circumstances using local organizations. Malcolm is also a graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Georgian College. He enjoys a good game of golf with his mother, cottage time with his family and catching up on the day's news.
Che graduated from the Social Service Worker program at Georgian College and is responsible for the experience of guests at the shelter. He strives to be authentic and empathetic, and considers staying positive very important to his role. He is open for a conversation with anyone at any time because he has a passion for serving people in vulnerable circumstances. Che is married with 3 children and loves spending time with them. You might even find Che doing marshal arts, catching fish or singing with his band!
Dennis has the important job of making sure every guest at the shelter has a safe, peaceful night's rest. He's passionate about getting to know guests that stay with us, and always has an ear to lend. The Lighthouse is thankful for him. For fun, Dennis likes to read fiction, enjoys manga and watching anime!
Tobey is a recent graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Georgian College. Tobey understands the struggles of living on a low income and how quickly circumstances can change in people's lives. Her goal is to provide the clients with the care and respect they deserve while assisting them with their needs, and working to make the shelter a safe and welcoming place. Tobey has 5 amazing children and 5 beautiful grandchildren, spending her spare time with family. When she's not with family or friends, she likes to keep busy restoring furniture and find mother nature to be a great stress reliever – enjoying motorcycle rides in the country, fishing, boating and camping.
Teresa has been serving at the Lighthouse for over 15 years. She leads the charge in the kitchen day in and day out, cooking for everyone that comes through our doors. She loves the friendly relationships that begin to feel like family at the Lighthouse, many of the clients endearingly refer to her as "mom." Her passions line up with her role here, since cooking, helping others and talking to people are a few of her favourite things.
