Every day at The Lighthouse, our laundry rooms are working hard to provide something many of us take for granted: clean clothes, fresh bedding, and dignity.

In the first quarter alone, our laundry areas generated 48 maintenance requests, making laundry our most reported maintenance area. Our aging machines simply can’t keep up with the demand.

Here’s what our laundry equipment supports:

Community Laundry
Orillia’s only washer and dryer available to people who need them, including people in our programs, those sleeping rough, and community members without access to laundry facilities.

Emergency Shelter
Laundry for bedding and towels, plus a personal load of laundry each week for 58 shelter participants.

Lighthouse Operations linens, rags, mops and other essential laundry needs across our food service and facilities areas.

That’s why we’re excited to partner with Mr. Appliance to replace our aging equipment with commercial-grade machines and establish a fulsom preventative maintenance program to keep them running for years to come.

Our goal: $35,000

This is a tangible way to make a direct impact. Every donation large or small helps us get closer to reliable laundry services for the people who depend on them.

By cheque: Mail your cheque and write “Laundry Support” in the memo line.
