Community Outreach

The Lighthouse Outreach Team is out in Orillia 7 days/week. Working closely with the City of Orillia Bylaw and OPP, we create an overall support of wellness for people experiencing homelessness.

The Lighthouse Youth Outreach Team is out in Orillia 5 days/week, focusing on youth (ages 16-24) who may find themselves experiencing homelessness, such as couch surfing, street, encampments, etc.

The key role of our Outreach Workers is building trust and forming relationships with people staying in encampments or on the street to help keep them safe, healthy and ultimately to support finding housing.

Outreach Workers connect people to relevant resources and other organizations in the community, as well as provide basic necessities such as snacks, water, items for safety/shelter while people are staying outside, hygiene items, socks, harm reduction supplies and more.
